Dr. Michael C Stiles, medical director of SEE has earned regional and national recognition as a leading provider of breakthrough treatments for cataracts and glaucoma. He is widely known among medical colleagues and patients as an ophthalmologist who is committed to bringing the latest and most advanced procedures to patients in the Greater Kansas City region. Dr. Michael C Stiles is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he completed his ophthalmology residency. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in anterior segment surgery and glaucoma at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Michael C Stiles started in group private practice in Kansas City, Missouri in 1990 and formed his own solo practice in 2002. Growth of his practice prompted the August 2006 opening of Stiles Eyecare Excellence (SEE). This spacious, new, state-of-the-art treatment facility is located in Overland Park, Kansas, adjacent to Deer Creek Surgery Center, a facility owned and operated by Dr. Michael C Stiles and six other ophthalmologists. Consultations, testing, examinations, and surgeries are offered at one convenient site. Dr. Michael C Stiles also consults with patients at regional satellite offices in Lawrence and Topeka.
During the past two decades, he has participated in numerous clinical research initiatives and published nearly 70 articles and papers featured at national symposiums and in medical research journals. In line with staying in the forefront of eye care, he formed a research department within SEE, which participates in surgical device and pharmaceutical clinical studies. Dr. Michael C Stiles has been actively involved in ophthalmology resident education at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he is Assistant Clinical Professor.
Dr. Michael C Stiles is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Glaucoma Society. He has served as president of the Kansas City Society of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology and president of the International Society of Spaeth Fellows. He has won numerous awards in his specialty, including Best Doctors in America for several consecutive years.
Dr. Michael C Stiles and his wife, Michella Stiles, M.D., reside in Leawood, Kansas, with their two daughters: Regan and Caterina. He enjoys cheering for his undergraduate alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, snow skiing, playing golf, and spending time with his family.
