Cataracts are the number one cause of poor vision in the United States and nearly three million cataract surgeries are performed in the U.S. annually.
Cataracts are a clouding of the lens of the eye. This clouding prevents light from passing through the lens to the retina. Looking through a cloudy lens is like trying to see through a fogged-up window. This makes it more difficult to read, drive, and even to see others’ facial expressions.
Glaucoma
Over three million Americans have glaucoma, but only half of them know they have it.
There are very few symptoms when the disease is in its earliest and most treatable stages. That’s why regular screening is so critical. Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness if left untreated. Though there is no cure yet for glaucoma, early detection and medication/surgery can halt further vision loss. Advanced technology makes it possible to diagnose glaucoma earlier than ever before.
